Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Review

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
With the release of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves just a month away, will it live up to the expectation?
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves takes place 2 years after where you have ended in Uncharted: Drakes Fortune. Drake always seems to have a nasty habit of getting into trouble when finding treasures in the game. One of the first things you have to do is to steal an antique oil lamp from a museum in Turkey. After you have beaten that mission, the game continues on when Drake finds some very interesting artifacts and learns more about Marco Polo’s doomed voyage to home from China in 1292. This is where it gets interesting; the game tells you that he sailed off with 14 ships having 600 passengers but only one ship returns with 18 passengers. Marco Polo kept a journal that will be found later in the game, but it has nothing in there about the lost ships during the voyage.
There are the same voice actors and some new characters in the game, the acting as usual is spot on. You really can think that this game can be put into the context of a movie because of how well the voice acting is. Some movies give you all sorts of emotions; Uncharted 2: Among Thieves will do the exact same thing, it also helps that the cut scenes are perfectly executed and transitioned.
Now, time to break down the graphics in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. Uncharted: Drakes fortune had very good graphics for the ps3 (at the time) but now Uncharted 2: Among Thieves has smoked it out of the water. The visual quality is excellent to the point where it really shows that it has maxed out the ps3. When you are coming across the landscape or in one of the missions you are fighting on the train, you can really tell that Naughty Dog has really upped their ante. When watching trucks or anything for that matter explode in the game because of your well-being or someone else’s, the animation of what happens is just spectacular. If you could zoom in on a still image, you probably could see how high the detail is on the animation.
Any Uncharted game wouldn’t be complete if you can’t kill anyone. In this game you will get more weapons from pistols/handguns, automatic, shotguns, a tranquilizer gun and just for when you had a hard day and want to blow some steam off, a minigun. When the producers made the weapons into the game, they really gave all the weapons some thought. For example, the FAL assault rifle has a red dot sight for better accuracy. Another thing that is different in this game is the ability to be stealthy. During one of the missions you have to be stealth and not been seen at all. It is a very hard mission but after 2 tries you get the hang of it (I just wish they would’ve explained stealth more instead of throwing it into the game with little tutorial).
Another great feature in the game is the multiplayer mode. Yes, that’s right I said Multiplayer, in the multiplayer you can climb onto almost anything. The multiplayer is perfectly executed and deserves a job well done with all the weapons, modes and stuff you can do in the environment. Other than that it’s just a basic 3rd person shooter Multiplayer mode.
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is indeed a great game and is a definite buy; this game might be the switch for some users to buy a PS3.
