Counter-Strike Co-Creator Talks New Project “Tactical Intervention”

Minh Le who co-created the amateur mod Counter-Strike, which later hit commercial success, has finally unveiled his next project to the world. It’s called ‘Tactical Intervention’.

Le joined Valve in 2000 but left on good terms eventually. The mod maker instead secured funds from a South Korean IT firm for development. His new game enters beta soon.

“I hated how powerful snipers were in Counter-Strike,” admitted Minh, “They really unbalanced the game.” Changes to the Counter-Strike formula weren’t ideal though.

“I enjoyed Counter-Strike, but I wanted to have my own game,” he said. “I was never able to put in all the cool features I wanted because the people who played Counter-Strike would” complain “about all the changes. They liked the game as it is.”

Tactical Intervention uses a heavily modified Valve source engine, and will have maps that include non-combatants. It follows the terrorists vs. spec-ops theme of Counter-Strike.
