Tony Hawk: Ride
Story
There really is no story in Tony Hawk: Ride video game. Unlike the other Tony Hawk games in the series, there is no person trying to put their name out for the whole entire world to know. Instead you get to do quite a few events which if done well, will unlock the next location. There are only six locations in this game which is a really disappointment. Every single location has its own style which is a plus side. But, it would’ve been nicer if they could have a open world instead of just six tracks but then that would just be copying Electronic Arts Skate which Activision wouldn’t like.
The mission types are as follows:
Speed
Trick
Challenge
Free Skate
Multiplayer
In online you can compete with up to three other players with modes such as:
Trick
Speed
You can also check out the leader boards to see who has mastered the game and who still hasn’t grasped the game like most of us non skate boarders.
The LAN side of the game allows up to 7 other people for you to play with. This LAN feature still has the same modes as in the online multiplayer. There really isn’t anything much that the multiplayer has to offer. We all know there could have been more things added but they weren’t added in the game.
Peripherals
Now lets talk about the actual board itself. This board is suppose to have all of the latest in technology and the most advanced controller created to date. But with untested technology becomes flaws in the system. Sometimes it may take a while for the board to tell the game what exactly you are trying to do or you could be stuck in a trick when you are just standing there. It could really screw up the way you play and the chances of you beating the non existing story. One of the downsides to the board is that if something walks around the board, it will trigger movement and start doing stuff on its own. Another pain is how you have to steer. If they were looking for a realistic experience in a video game, well they are still far off. The steering is really hard to do and sometimes you either steer to hard or just not enough.
