also the fact that you nominate an expansion sold full price as possible game of the year sends the message to MS that’s it’s OK to treat its costumers like that
why should they invest time and money on developing new IPs that move the industry forward when they can keep milking a previous gen franchise by putting out half baked game that websites name best of the year

Dude, Besides be a little bit of a fanboy, you argue about a new IP yet your big endorsment is a sequel. A little confused are ya. We all have an opinion as to what is our favorite game and for each of us that is the game of the year. What I may think is the best game ever may be the worst to everyone else. To each his own and some people may like / love Halo. Just enjoy what floats your boat and don’t worry bout it.

If you don’t want Halo 3: ODST to be the game of the year then don’t vote for it. Plain and simple.

what if I want to vote for assassin’s creed 2? you should then give the option to people to vote for “other”
what don’t you just be honest and openly say that you wanted at least 360 exclusive among the nominees and you didn’t care if there wasn’t any good enough to be there?

I am being honest, this was just a vote taking by everyone who works at the office. In my honest opinion about Halo 3: ODST, it did have a good campaign. I enjoyed it but it being in the nominees wasn’t my opinion, just the people who work here and a few industry insiders (To make it fair.)

the ODST campaign lasted around 4 hours, the graphics were very similar to Halo 3 which wasn’t a great looking game to begin with and about 80% of the multiplayer content was already included on Halo 3
no one who can honestly say with a straight face that ODST is a better game or that is offers more value than Assassin’s Creed 2 or Demon’s Souls for example, both very good games with campaigns of 35-40 hours
if you wanted to have a 360 exclusive on the list, even if there wasn’t any good enough to be considered among the best of the year, you could’ve pick Forza 3, and all around solid game

I have to agree with everyone’s comment: Halo ODST IS NOT a “game of the year” by any stretch of the imagination.
Also, your list is bullshit: you don’t even have a single Wii title for ‘Game of the year”. You can claim to be platform agnostic, but in reality you have a strong bias towards the PS3 (3 games in your 4-game list).

Wow…that is all I have to say, Spike’s nominees doesn’t even have a Wii game…There were some good games for the Wii but not “great” games. Plus, that is just your opinion but you were putting it in a very harsh way…
